About Our Committees

Negotiation Committee

The Negotiation Committee works to establish our contract with the Administration which encompasses our benefits, holidays, compensation and work place conditions.

 

Reclassification Committee

The Reclassification Committee serves members, through consideration of reclassification when an increase in duties and/or responsibilities of the employee holding said position, changes from the position the employee was appointed to.

 

Grievance Committee

The Grievance Committee responds to formally submitted complaints filed by members against their Supervisor or changes to their job in relationship to the contract.

 

Sick Bank Committee

The Reclassification Committee serves members, through consideration of reclassification when an increase in duties and/or responsibilities of the employee holding said position, changes from the position the employee was appointed to.

 

Communications/ Website Committee

The Communications and Website Committee ensures that there is a direct line of current information between the Board and Union members. It also is responsible for maintaining and updating the Union website.

 

Pension/Medical Benefits Committee

The Pension and Medical Benefits Committee will review the overall Pension and Medical Benefits that we currently have and will evaluate any new options going forward.

Scholarship/ Charity Committee

The Scholarship Committee annually reviews submitted applications for the Local 3144 scholarship for graduation High School Seniors and submits its list of awardees to the President and E-Board for final decisions.

Constitution Revision Committee

The Constitution Revision Committee is responsible for updating the fundamental principles by which the local is governed. The Constitution should address the following: Objectives and Mission; Membership; Executive Board, Stewards and Committees; Duties of Officers;Salaries and Benefits (if any); Meetings and Quorum; Elections; Dues and Fiscal Year; Budget; Membership Protection; Amendments and By-Laws.

 

Welcome Committee

The Welcome Committee ensures new members receive information pertaining to their new position. It includes all district reps and two additional members:

 

Events Committee

The Events Committee handles all special activities for the membership.

 

Sunshine Committee

The Sunshine Committee responds to major life changing events of members. It exists to give members support when needed.
