Subject: IMPORTANT COVID-19 Update
Importance: High
Dear City of New Haven Employees,
Given the growing spread of the COVID 19 virus in our city, state, and country, I have declared a State of Emergency in the City of New Haven to protect the public health of our residents. There is no doubt that COVID-19 will continue to spread in our community, and I will take every measure appropriate to limit exposure to our residents. I have also made the decision to close City Hall to the public tomorrow, and indefinitely. We are curtailing all activities except critical functions until further notice.
City Employees, if you are not critical to these operations you will be notified by your supervisor and asked not to come to work tomorrow. If you are unsure, or have not received that communication, please contact your supervisor immediately for further clarification. Over the next several days, our team will be evaluating our employee safety and operations protocol, in addition to increasing options for teleworking where possible.
Your safety and health is of the utmost importance. Please stay tuned for further updates and next steps. I truly appreciate your cooperation during this challenging time.
All my best,
Justin Elicker
Mayor
